Hello, and welcome to my site!
Here’s a little bit about me:
My family moved from Mobile, AL to Boston, Massachusetts in 1996. In 1997, my family (four brothers, mom and dad) and I moved to Fall River, where I have lived (for the most part) ever since. I am married to my “high school sweetheart,” Patrick Stone, and we are the proud parents of Marshall Andrew, our very active, and very sweet, two-year old boy.
I am a product of the Fall River public educational system. I attended Dubuque Elementary, Talbot Middle, and Durfee High School. After graduating from Durfee in 2004, I attended Bristol Community College for Communications, then the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for Human Resources Management.
I am currently the Manager of Communications, Public Relations, and Fundraising at the Katie Brown Educational Program. KBEP, which is based out of Fall River, is a relationship violence prevention program taught in grades 5-12 in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. At KBEP, I am responsible for donor cultivation, media relations and correspondence, our website, social media, and overall awareness of the program.
Prior to working for KBEP, I was Communications Manager at the Bristol County (formerly, Fall River Area) Chamber of Commerce, and Membership & Communications Coordinator at the SouthCoast (formerly, New Bedford Area) Chamber of Commerce. I have also worked for Staples Corporate Offices, as Training & Development Coordinator. My first job was right here in Fall River, working at the CD-Recreational Center and the YMCA’s childcare center.
I am a member of the 2017 cohort of Leadership SouthCoast, and also, after a moving Leadership SouthCoast session, volunteer time at Gifts to Give. I have previously volunteered my time at the Fall River Parent Academy and Mini Maker Faire.
I am running for School Committee because I genuinely believe in the power of public education. If elected I look forward to collaborating with other members of the school committee, teachers, parents, business leaders and educators at the collegiate level, to ensure that the children who attend the Fall River Public Schools have the best chance at becoming successful, thriving adults!
